Who am I?

Pheobe Spiwak (She/Her) is a trans emerging filmmaker and creative artist from Toronto, Ontario. A graduate from Humber Polytechnic's BFMP program, she has a strong interest in art that speaks to the human body and mind, trans life, and film as a medium for cathartic emotion, be that as drama, comedy, neither or both. Her unique touch will bring a special flavour to any project she works on. She is a strong believer in the human touch, not just in art but in all parts of life (even in regards to her handcoded website). She hopes to explore whatever themes draw her attention through the creation of art that inspires her, whether that be with film, or with other mediums. As long as it's a project that taps into something human, Pheobe will be one of its staunchest supporters, in whatever capacity is required!

Pheobe has experience in multiple roles on all levels of film production, with a primary focus on post production. She has worked as a picture editor, sound/music editor, colourist and foley artist, and has worked as a boom operator and PA on set. She also has experience with catering and location managing for film. She is proficient in Premiere Pro and Pro Tools, and with experience with Avid Media Composer, Adobe Audition, Photoshop, Da Vinci Resolve, After Effects, and Movie Magic Scheduler. She also has written and directed a short (but who hasn't). She also has her full G licence, and is experienced in highway driving. As someone who lives and breathes film, her passion for the medium, and her drive to put in her best work would make her a valuable addition to any project!

Pheobe is also a published writer and artist, with her work getting into such zines as Movies Men Ruined For Me (2025) and the upcoming My Life As A Cyborg (2026), which premieres at PaperJam 2026; both works are available in the portfolio section. She has a deep love of writing about film (as evidenced by her Letterboxd reviews), and has a passion for curating film, which is something she is looking to do professionally. She is hoping to film several projects in the near future, and collaborate with other filmmakers and artists to broaden her body of work into a portfolio that reflects her values and that she can be proud of!
